BABY LIST.
Bebe #3 is due end of May, so I’ve started putting together his room, and going through all the things I have saved from Grey and Mila! This is a blog I wrote with all my baby faves for them, but they are 7 and 4 now - and things change so much!
I also wrote a Pregnancy, Newborn, and Kiddos Guide - so check that out too!
TEENY BABY CLOTHES
Mebie Baby - the coziest neutral sleepers
August River - I got a lot of sleepers and rompers!
Rylee + Cru - baby + kids clothes faves
Spearmint Love - they have EVERYTHING!
Jamie Kay - leggings, tights, the sweetest clothes
Kate Quinn - soft patterned basics
Maisonette - clothes, toys, seasonal faves
The Tot - clothes, seasonal faves, toys
Jax & Lennon - fave basics and kids jammies
Childhoods Clothing - fave basics and kids jammies
The Natural Baby Co - bottles, accessories, pacis, so much stuff
Shop Noble - basics for baby, kids, adults
Bitte Shop - wooden toys and natural baby stuff
Odin Parker - wooden toys
Oh, let’s talk diaper bags! For Grey and Mila I tended to use dedicated “diaper bags” - I loved Fawn Design! I’ll still reach for that one (the Original is my fave), but I am also planning on using my well-loved, huge, versatile Free People bag with the large insert!
For washing baby clothes (and my entire family’s clothes!) - we use Thieves Laundry Soap. It is so gentle, safe, and you need the tiniest bit!
FEEDING
I don’t breastfeed my kids. SHOCKER. And no, you don’t need to message me and tell me why you think I should. Love ya though! (Here is a post about it!)
We use donor milk (THANK YOU, our friends) and we get our formula imported from Europe. Their standards are much higher than ours here in the United States, and the cost isn’t that much more expensive. Here is where to get it - Organic Life Start carries it! We use Holle Goat’s milk formula, and we use glass bottles from Avent. We try and use glass instead of plastic wherever we can. They aren’t that much heavier, and they are super sturdy. I have dropped them plenty of times and haven’t broken one yet!
This time around, I also ordered these rubber and glass bottles from Baby Quoddle.
Washing bottles - Thieves Dish Soap!!!!
Burp cloths - love how thick and simple these are
Bibs - these muslin ones are great, and for messy babes - I love this style!
Life 9 Probiotic (1/4 cap in bottle or on nipple once a day) - I started this with my babies at a week old
Tummygize roller (for gassy bellies): I roll this on teeny feet and tummies!
Orange oil (for backed up bellies): Legit can’t live without this and Tummygize for babies and kids that need to poop!!!
Gas Drops and Gripe Water: so helpful for those really gassy nights for babe.
Vitamin D drops: I supplemented with a lil vitamin D for my babes
Also, I cannot stress this enough - a chiropractor!!!! So incredibly helpful for us, and our babies.
CARSEATS + STROLLERS
With Grey - I went with a very inexpensive infant seat and stroller. Rookie move. The infant seat was sooo hard to adjust, it wasn’t smooth and I freaking HATED IT. As soon as he had a decent amount of neck control, I switched him to a rear facing convertible seat, and would just wear him anytime we went somewhere. I did that with Mila also. I basically never brought their infant seats into stores. I always wore both my kids as babes.
We recently switched all our carseats to the Clek brand - totally non-toxic, highly rated for safety, easy to install, AND can go 3-across! Grey has the Oobr Booster, Mila has the Foonf, and I have the Liing for the new babe’s infant seat. Will I end up switching him to the Foonf soon after? Probably.
Side note: We are huge huge huge advocates for extended rear-facing. We switched Grey to forward facing a few months before he turned 4 years old, when he maxed out the height requirement. A lot of people ask us “where do his feet go?” - they just go wherever he wants! Crosslegged, up on the seat, to the sides of the seat. Whatever. He never complained about being rear-facing because he didn’t get a choice. That is what is safest, so that’s what we did, and he didn’t know any better anyways. People also ask us “isn’t that unsafe for his legs? Wouldn’t they break in a car accident?” Yes. Maybe. But, better a broken leg than a broken neck or spine. Forward-facing safety doesn’t have to do with how tall or heavy your baby is. It is an age thing - their spines are not developed enough to withstand an impact until they are 3-4 years old. Keep those kiddos rear-facing until they max out your carseat’s height OR weight limit - whichever comes first.
Okay, stepping off my soapbox now :)
I also got a cheaper stroller with Grey, and it wasn’t terrible, but It definitely wasn’t as smooth or easy to use. I eventually switched to the Baby Jogger City Select when he was a few months old, knowing that I could get the second seat kit in a few years when we had another baby. It was a big investment for us, and I am sooo happy we did it. It is by far my fave stroller. I LOVE it. Now with two kids, we can configure the seats a million different ways, and it’s super easy to use. We also have the kickboard on it for Grey, and he loves riding “on his trash truck.”
I also have the Veer wagon and we use it STILL with the kids - ages 7.5 and 4!! It has attachments for the infant seat too for the new baby.
We didn’t order this, but the Doona Infant Seat to Stroller was one of the most reccomended new baby products when I asked on IG! I think if I didn’t go right to babywearing from the carseat, I would have gotten this. It honestly looks SWWWEEEEEET.
SLEEP
So typically I co-sleep with my newborns the first week or so, and then they go to a bassinet in my room, or their crib in their rooms. It just has depended on the babe! This time around, I thinkkkk I am going to rent or buy, not sure yet, the Snoo sleeper. People say it’s a miracle. I dunno, but I love sleep. So seems worth a try especially if I can rent!
Our crib was made by my dad, and all three babes have slept i it, and so will this sweetie! Since babies spend like half their life in their beds, a non-toxic crib mattress: is crucial. I have the Nook Pure Crib mattress!
I used the DockATot for the other kids, so I’ll still use that - but I also bought the SnuggleMe Organic to have baby lounge on. It fits in our Moses basket too!
Oh, and for travel, we used a Pack-N-Play with the SlumberPod over it! Mila STILL sleeps in this when we travel sometimes LOL she is FOUR!
We LOOOOVED the Mamaroo for our babes. This time, I also got the Levo baby rocker with the sheepskin liner.
I have an Angelcare movement monitor for under the baby’s crib - it gives me peace of mine
I may get this sound machine too, I actually just ordered it for Mila to use as a nightlight and Time-To-Rise clock and I loooove it! This is the sound machine we have in like every room. For travel - grab this sound machine!
This is the Stokke mini crib that grows with your kiddo - I am eyeing it up for Pecan house!!
Okay, what do my babies sleep in? They have ALL been different ha!!!
Grey loooooved being swaddled. These are my top choice.
Mila loved her arms free - we used these for her! (I did order this brand to try too for this new babe!)
Pumpkin liked being wrapped up tight - this was what we used most and she loved these swaddles as a newborn!
As the kids got older I used the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit and then they all slept in the Woolino sleep sacks until they were in their big kid beds around age 3! These are worth every penny. You will only need one, and they are worn all seasons, for years, and you can pass down to each kiddo!
When it comes to sleep, we follow an eat, wake, sleep routine. We’ve used the Babywise book for all the babes, and each of them has slept 12 hours within a few months with zero crying. Guiding my children on how to get proper sleep is incredibly important to me - sleep is where our bodies are restored, and when my kids don’t sleep well at night, I see it clearly manifest in their mood the next day. Teaching them to sleep well, and gently, is a gift! I diffuse sleep oils in my baby’s rooms, and use sleep rollers like Lavender + Peace and Calming, and SleepyIze. Get your Starter Bundle or the Little Oiler’s Bundle and be blessssssed!
DIAPERS, BABY CARE
Mamas. Let’s talk diapers and wipes and teeny squishy baby bums.
We all love our babies and want the best for them. And we also want them to not pee and poop all over us all day, so clearly, they need those tushies covered. (I know some mamas LOVE elimination communication - this isn’t for me! If it’s for you - AWESOME!)
So, our skin is the largest organ of our body and absorbs ev.er.y.thing.
Which means that the diapers that we use are literally sitting on that skin, 24/7, 365, for 1.5-3ish years.
Every single day. Every hour of the day. For years.
Being mindful of the chemicals that would be touching my precious babes skin was super important to me! (Oh, I also know so many mamas love cloth diapering! I tried it, it wasn’t for me, but there’s so many great options and resources out there if you wanna go that route!)Diapers - I am trying Coterie this time around, as well as Dyper, and I’ve always loved Bambo and Andy Pandy, and Parasol!
Wipes - The Seedlings wipes from Young Living are my favorite. So gentle!!! (I also use these for dryer sheets, for quick hand wiping after art, a few packs live in my car, etc) - I grab the 6packs!
Changing basket on dresser - I love this one!!!!
Diaper Pail - This Ubbi Stainless Steel one is the BEST!
Gathre Changing Mats - These are super thin leather mats that we use for alllll the things. They come in multiple sizes, from a small changing pad size (I give these to new mamas! They are SO THIN and small, and wipe down easily. I keep them in my purse for changes in public places.) to a mat that can go under a highchair, to a play mat size, to a giant size for outside or inside play. (I keep one on the dining room table for them to do arts and crafts on!)
Seedlings Baby Products - We’ve used these for YEARS (as well as the Kidscents line!) on our babies. The Diaper Rash cream is FREAKIN’ magic!!!! The Baby Wash is so gentle and soothing. I spray the Linen Spray on blankets and sheets. The Baby Oil is so moisturizing. And, I know these products are safe for my babes - and have the power of pure essential oils to soothe and calm my sweet loves.
Pacifiers - Pacifiers are so freaking ugly. They don’t go with any outfits and are just ugly. BUT, they calm my babies and help them sleep SO. Let’s pick the healthiest ones and the semi-cutest ones! I love rubber Natursutten pacis:) Also, Little Big Heart has cute paci clips and rubber pacis too!
Pigeon Nail Scissors - Forget the sketch nail clippers. Get these $10 nail scissors and thank me later. I also buy these for my mama friends!
BABYWEARING
I am a huge huge fan of baby wearing. Keeps my sweet babes close, while giving me my hands free. YESSSS please. Immediately from birth, I use Solly wraps. So incredibly soft, slightly stretchy, and keep babe so secure and close. I love that I could put my wrap on before I left home, and when we got to the store or where ever we were going, I could just pop Grey or Mila in. I would wear them under my jackets in the winter - they are so thin and not bulky.
Once the babies got a little bigger, I loved my Sakura Bloom Scout (which is a much more gorgeous and less bulky style) when I am running around the house trying to just get. shit. done.) and the Tula. I tended to use the Tula more when we went on trips where I did a lot of walking. I STILL put 4 year old, 40 pound Mila Rose in the Toddler Tula on my back. I keep it in my car for when she needs a mama snuggle ;)
With Mila and Pumpkin (we were foster parents, and P was with us from newborn to 8 months when Mila was a year old!), I loooved Wildbird ring slings - they were nice when we are going somewhere and I am going to need to get her in and out of the sling a few times. It’s very quick and I can just throw it on, and her in it. With the Solly, if I take her out, I usually need to rewrap it before I put her back in. With the ring sling, I just throw her back in there.
This babe - I ordered two Artipoppe carriers after hearing friends RAVE about them. They are STUNNING, and I love how simple they are to put on and adjust! (Oh and that link will give you $58 off!)
