PREP | CAR EMERGENCY KIT
One thing that 2020 has show me is the world is wild, and I need to be prepared for things I never thought of! Honestly - we should all have some basic emergency kits in our home and car, and some preparedness skills. But like lots of things, it was “on my list” to do.
And then 2020 hit and shit was crazy. So, I went hardcore in making sure we were as ready as we could be for anything. That is a whole separate post HA!
The reality is - long times at home without being able to leave for whatever reason, weather disasters, power outages, food shortages - all things it is wise to prepare for.
Today, I got most of my car emergency kit into my SUV! We have a Chevy Suburban, and it actually comes with a nicely organized compartment space under the rear floor that was perfect for storing these things! I did a video walk through on it too in my Prepared highlight on Instagram! I will share it below for you :)
I got these clear plastic storage cubes which were perfect for organizing!
I linked everything I used on my below and I will give you a run down of what each general category contained. This is list is still evolving, and I’ll add more as I nail it all down!
A few things to note:
+ The water bottles - in the winter, I will swap out to plastic so they don’t freeze, and the rest of the seasons, glass is best!
+ The food items - we will eat these and then keep replacing so they don’t go bad and we always have them available.
+ Am I worried about oils getting hot or things “going bad” - No! Oils would have to be in insane heat for a LONG time to be impacted - this isn’t something I am worried about, even in the hottest summer weather. But, even if I was, and in regards to other things going bad - when we are talking an emergency situation - which is what this is - ANYTHING is better than nothing.
